Only doctors listed on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register can legally issue an initial prescription for cannabis-based medicines. And while there are an estimated 100,000 doctors listed on the GMC’s Specialist Register, fewer than 1% have undertaken training in cannabis-based medicine prescribing.
